TCC's Judy Rubin Speaks Out About Local Marijuana Proposal

October 28, 2014

Our very own Executive Director, Judy Rubin, was interviewed by Andy Choi from WXYZ news to discuss the issues of the new misleading marijuana proposal in Berkley, Huntington Woods, and Pleasant Ridge.

The new ballot proposal does not legalize marijuana. Persons in possession of marijuana will still be charged at a State or Federal level. It is important that we, as a community, send a clear message about marijuana use and the detrimental impact of decriminalization.

Please vote NO on the "Proposed Charter Amendment" November 4th!

September 10, 2014 Announcements

September 17, 2014

Lots of exciting changes have been happening around the Tri-Community Coalition office.

Program Director: Regina Hollingshead

  • We first would like to welcome our new Program Director, Regina Hollingshead!

Regina graduated from Valparaiso University in 2009 with a degree in History and Secondary Education.

From 2009-2011 she ran a high school service learning program with City Year Seattle/King County. From 2010-2011 she taught ESL in Valparaiso, Indiana and served on the Board of Directors for the Valparaiso International Center.

In 2011, she moved to Detroit as part of Teach for America and taught in the Detroit Public Schools for three years. She is excited about this new transition into non-profit work, and looking forward to continuing her passion for improving and enriching the lives of youth with the Coalition.

    Intern: Dana Ocker

  • We also would like to welcome our new intern, Dana Ocker! She is in her Senior year in the Social Work Program at OaklandUniversity. Her passion is focused on community organizing, social justice, and media reform. She is delighted to be working with us:

"I'm very excited to work with Tri-Community Coalition. I have so much to learn, and I have 3 very amazing mentors looking after me. I'm blessed to be working here."

After graduating with her Bachelors of Social Work, she hopes to attend MSU to obtain an Organization and Community Leadership Masters degree.

We are excited to have both Regina and Dana on board!

  • Also, we expanded our office and did some reorganizing and redecorating. The new office looks great, so stop by and take a look.
