The pictures that I took represent multiple things. Pictures displayed were taken by me, all except for the “DRUGS” sign. One image displays someone handcuffed to alcohol, unable to escape their addiction. Other images display things such as people drinking and being okay, while others drink and have these horrible things happen. (I made the handcuff picture blurry on purpose to show what you see when you are incredibly drunk). Just because other people’s bodies react okay to consuming alcohol, doesn’t mean your body will react positively. The best solution is to just decide not to drink, it’s so dangerous and the results are unpredictable. The same goes for drugs, but unfortunately, I couldn’t take pictures of drugs to display to you. The message I’m trying to convey with this piece is to mainly attract everyone to the idea of staying safe and being aware that they could possibly be ending their life. Stay safe!
In this art piece, I've used colored pencils and ebony pencils. This piece represents anyone who has domestic issues of any type. They may want to drink away the pain they're feeling .What some don't know is that alcohol is a depressant. The more you drink the worse you feel and you may become addicted. In serious cases, such as this Jane Doe, she decides to try to drink her problems away. She continues every day to get drunk at the same place only to feel worse the next day. Her days get worse and worse. She doesn't realize she has a problem. She's an alcoholic. One day she finally drinks herself to death...literally. This is something that can happen to anyone. We have to make right choices and handle our issues differently.
I chose this medium because it was the best way to capture the idea I had in my head and it’s supposed to represent the overuse of, addiction to, and misuse of prescription and over the counter drugs. People can get addicted to painkillers or take a whole slew of pills just to see what kind of high they can get. It really is a shame but they must be the people to decide for themselves.
